B J Fadem started practicing Law in 1985 and became certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California in 2000. He is also a Certified Specialist as an International Mediator by UC Hastings Law School and one of only two certified international mediators in the State of California. In 2018, B J became an Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University School of Law, where he teaches Wills & Trusts and Family Law.

B J founded the Law Offices of Fadem & Associates in 1990. This career followed his previous lives as a Police Officer with the San Jose Police Department, an Insurance Investigator, a liability supervisor for Transamerica Insurance, a Pre-Trial Release Specialist, and a musician.

B J Fadem is one of the very few Attorneys in California who specializes in Palimony, International and Interstate jurisdictional cases, including International Child & Abduction under the Hague Convention and matters under the Uniformed Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), as well as Inter-State Child Abduction. Through his leadership and expertise, B J has taught our attorneys to adeptly handle these cases and frequently serves as an expert in these fields of law, as well as having taught other attorneys and judges throughout the country this specialized area of the law.

As a Certified Family Law Specialist, B J specializes in all aspects of Family Law. He is also passionate about mediation, including international mediation, private judging, and Family Law Appeals. B J also handles probate matters; whether it is an intestate matter (i.e., an individual has died without a will or trust), a will, or a holographic (handwritten) will.
B J Fadem is not only dedicated and committed to the practice of Law, but also to the applications of the Law in representing the legal rights and protections of all citizens at the legislative level. In 2017, while a member of the Family Law Executive Committee for the State Bar of California, B J Fadem Co-Authored and was instrumental in implementing new legislation that established emergency jurisdiction over custody and property matters pending a transfer of case due to a change of venue.

B J’s experience and expertise resulted in recognition by Best Lawyers in America for Family Law and Family Law Mediation since 2021 and as a Northern California Super Lawyer since 2023. The Law Firm has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in Best Law Firms for Family Law and Family Law Mediation since 2021.

B J continues to give back to the legal community and share his knowledge and experience, not only with his team but with the community at large. B J has written several articles for the California State Bar Family Law Section publication, as well as being a contributing author for several publications. In his role as the Chair of the Education Committee of the Santa Clara County Bar Association Family Law Section, B J is committed to providing education and resources to family law attorneys in our community.
